Family Therapy views problems within couples, families and relationship as being caused by the way the people relate to each other. Family therapy focuses on changing patterns of interacting with each other, to create harmony and co-operation in relationships. This in turn, creates intimacy and renewed interest and energy in relationships.

Divorce Planning: A divorce is often the most stressful time in one's life. More than any other life style change, this event needs careful planning to minimize the confusion and fear that children and parents can feel. With the right specific planning and structuring a family can actually grow and strengthen through this transition. One of my specialties is helping people move through a divorce with a focus on the wellbeing of the children and on each person's growth during this process.

Psychotherapy: Therapy deals with the fact that , as an infant, our earliest relational experience with others creates an unconscious/subconscious relational "template" or "living record" that actually establishes and maintains future adult relationships. This template includes memories of people, events and the feelings that go with them (anxiety, depression, emptiness, pain or rage. Even though this template is out of awareness, it "sets the stage" for adult relationships and influences attempts at forming intimate bonds. Because of this dynamic, we have an "inherent determination" to shape today's connections so they "feel like" those that did ( or did not) exist with early caretakers. While altering an early event isn't possible, deep rooted pain can actually be healed in psychotherapy and eventually the ability to receive love in sufficient amounts returns. This is when a person can create happy and healthy relationships.
